Canyon Lake’s 8th Annual National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 6. This is a free community-wide event coordinated by the Canyon Lake National Day of Prayer Committee.

This year, the event will be held in the sanctuary at Canyon Lake Community Church and not in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Complimentary donuts and coffee will be available at 10 a.m. The program will start at 10:30 a.m.

Participants include Canyon Lake Community Church, Center Church, New Hope Community Church, and Lamb’s Fellowship Church. Members of the police department, fire department, Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense will be in attendance.

Canyon Lake Mayor Pro Tem Jeremy Smith will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Mayor Kasey Castillo will lead the prayer for the protectors.

Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Lynda Ofstad at 951-244-7866.

National Day of Prayer has been celebrated in the United States since 1952, by a joint resolution of Congress and President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan designated the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.
