The Riverside Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run collision that occurred on Tuesday, November 16, at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Riverside police and fire personnel responded to the area of Indiana Avenue and Monroe Street regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. Riley Froom, 67, of Riverside sustained major injuries after being struck and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later that night. ⁣

The preliminary investigation revealed Froom entered the roadway from the north curb of Indiana Avenue and was struck by a vehicle traveling east. According to the Riverside Police Department, based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, it was determined Froom was at fault for this collision by crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle that struck Froom did not stop and fled from the scene, which is a violation of the California Vehicle Code.⁣

The suspect vehicle is believed to have been a white 2013 to 2018 Nissan Altima with collision damage to the front left bumper, headlight, fender, and wheel area, as well as the driver’s side mirror.⁣

Traffic Bureau Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in this fatal hit and run collision.⁣ Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ryan McHugh at 951-826-8720 or [email protected]
